Mastering Monday

When was the last time you updated your website?

Do you have old information living on your website that your audience…and more importantly, can they tell? And how often should you be revamping your website? Okay, that’s a lot of questions….Let’s dive into it!!

How often should you be updating the content of your website?

Remember that email about blogging? You can “update” the content on your website by writing blogs or just updating outdated information on your blog. Maybe you email or even mail out a newsletter…make sure that is getting published on your website too! And of course, make sure you are updating your website information if it directly impacts your audience! If it has been over a month since you lat made any of these changes or updates, now is the time to do it!

When is it time for a new website?

Technology is always changing and the same goes for what search engines are looking for in a good website. Over the years, HTML, code and SEO has changed in terms of usability. If it has been over 3 years since the last major overhaul of your website, chances are it is out of date and not performing as effectively as it could be! And I get it, websites are not necessarily in the budget every 3 years, which it why keeping your content up to date is a priority!

Here are some ideas for what’s trending in 2021 for websites!

Horizontal scrolling

So, we’re all used to scrolling down a website for more information. But what about some horizontal scrolling?! Seems weird, right? But it is experiencing a comeback! If you’re looking to add something unique to your website, this could be it. Just make sure to incorporate arrows or other visual cues so users know that there is more information by scrolling sideways. A photo gallery could be perfect in this context (scrolling horizontally to read text is still a big no no)!

Multimedia Experiences

Combining visuals, text, video, and audio can help sell your business. By using different media formats you are offering something to everyone and maximizing the accessibility of content. Offering video playback controls will be essential in this instance to give the user control over their experience.

Muted Colors for a Natural Experience

Muted colors in the background are perfect for showcasing your products, illustrations,

Scrollytelling

So scrollytelling is a combination of storytelling and scrolling, so storytelling through scrolling. Your story heightens as users scroll down your website, hooking them to your narrative.
